The projects are a partnership between the Ohio State University, the Ohio Historical Society and Columbus Public Schools and are funded by a federal Teaching American History grant from the U.S. Department of Education.

Participants in the History WORKS projects receive unparalleled access to resources at the Ohio State University and the Ohio Historical Society. Professional historians from OSU's History Department open discussions on historical topics and scholarship while archivists at the OHS help teachers locate related primary source materials for inclusion into the curriculum. History WORKS also reinforces new state standards in Ohio and helps to create new unit plans and curricular activities for use by all Columbus teachers by working in partnership with the district.
