Description
Lesson summary: To analyze the record listed under "Resources" to learn more about what it was like to be an immigrant in the 19th century and to relate that to current events.
Lesson: This activity consists of the following parts: - Students read two stories deleating with immigration
- Students look at photographs of immigrant families
- Students discuss the phrase "We are a nation of immigrants" Students analyzed the Naturalization Declaration of Intent, listed under the "Resources" section and answered the following spiral questions

What words in the document provide clues as to the purpose of the document? 2. How is this document an important part of American history? Level III: Analysis 1. What might happen if people were not given the opportunity to get this type of document? 2. If you could interview Thomas J. Williams, what would you ask him?
