Description

Allow students, in groups or individually, to examine the primary source linked under Resources to the right, while answering the questions below in order. The questions are designed to guide students into a deeper analysis of the source and sharpen associated cognitive skills.

Level I: Description
1.Describe the people in the picture.
2. What are the people in the photo doing?
3. Note any similarities between the people in the picture?

Level II: Interpretation
1. What year was this photo taken? What clues are given about the time?
2. Where was the photo taken? Why do you think so?

Level III: Analysis
1. List two reasons why this group assembled?
2. If you were to have to draw a picture that represented an opposing idea to what this photo conveys, what would the picture look like? Describe how the ideas represented world differ from one another.

  • History 9-10, Benchmark F: Identify major historical patterns in the domestic affairs of the United States during the 20th century and explain their significance.
